2007 out…2008 in. The end of the decade is near. Always a good sign for music, and time for another “Sheddies”, our look at some of the stuff that mattered round’here. We have included the winners from year’s past as well. Perspective is a good thing :)…

December 17th, 2006 - So I can’t go to the Living End show at the Croc (pisses me off) and it looks like there is enough life in the scene for our 2nd annual “Sheddie” awards. 2006’s winners for the best in the area coming right up, but first...the news. If no one will adjust the poster, I guess we will... That’s right, DWR is NOT playing the 30th show at the Legion Hall in what promises to be an otherwise stellar way to end 06 and bring in the new year. The Heretix are a PA band that hasn’t pla…

October 20th, 2007 - With the exception of Zip Locc staying busy with the release of his CD “Product to Profit”, some stellar gigging from the former Captain Incognito, now freshly named New Faces, and the summer band Buffalo Voice clicking off a show or two, we bid ado to a sucky summer on the local rock scene. Falls our favorite time of year, and bidness has picked up on the local watch, so hear goes. New Name...Sam…

Best after show food. – Safeway takes the cake (2 foot sub) for the 2nd year in a row…but with a twist. It has become common knowledge that bands who lived here and moved away hit the Chinese at the Safeway because “no other Safeway Chinese tastes like the one in PT”. We are investigating the different elements into why this might be so, and will let you know what the DNA test says when the lab results get back.…

August 1st, 2006. Spelling errors and confusing grammar are always free. Mid-summer always seems to bring a lull in the action, well the lull is about to get shattered in a big way with new shows, and the approaching back to school show that is bound to please. But first, as always...the news. The band we want to hear... We have always said that a lot of local musicians, while kick ass now, are REALLY going to be inte…

June 19th, 2006. I never did like Summer. Everyone splits on vacation, big shows worth seeing are in bug-infested sheds in the middle of nowhere, and the sun just shouldn’t be up in the middle of a rockers night. That doesn’t mean that the ones who do like the sun and are sticking around don’t have some awesome summer fun planned. But first...the news. Some money raised...Some fun had.... The show this weekend was cool. Minor Imperfection got things started with a great set, at an early hour. Th…

May 28th, 2006 - Summers here, and the time is right for road trips, new local shows, and plans for that yearly mass exodus called Warped Tour. First...the news. Kane Hodder lost 2 members, but that hasn’t stopped them. Rumor has it that the departing pieces were quickly replaced by some of the guys from Claymore, and are playing a most excellent show with Stalin's War, The Hollowpoints, and Tiki House favs the Helen Killers on June 30th at the DV Hall in Bremerton. They will also be at Bumpersh…

May 21st, 2006 - On the week of the first Legion Hall show in 6 months, here we are again with all those little things you don’t hear about, but know they are there. Kind of like the sugar on your rice krispies, so here we go. Rock should not happen outdoors at 10:30 AM... The Skatepark grand opening was a thing of beauty. One of those special days in PT that only happens when everyone gets involved, and the only serious money on the line is the city’s. Coolest Kum-bye-ya event in town since the…

April 28th, 2006 - Time for another installment of the only place that puts all the local rock in a box and serves it up with a pound of sass. Will load gear for frequent flier miles... We thought we would bring you up to date on the travels of our local (and former local) noisemakers. Dakotah has left to join up with Aiden in Florida for a tour with HIM, and then you can hit him up for tickets/throw spitballs at him during the Warped Tour. The Hollowpoints embark on their US tour with the US Bo…

April 8th, 2006 - Spring has sprung, and so has the noise, with a whole new reason to get ready for some great upcoming shows. So without further ado, here are the top 10 reasons to live, even if you live here. What in the world?... After our MXPX April Fools joke last year, many were expecting brilliance out of me this year. I was put to shame by those bastards over at Kitsap Bands.com who had everyone convinced that they were “bought out” (like kbbands.com or the shedboyz is “worth” anything)…

March 3rd, 2006 - Sorry for the delay in posting an update, but we are back from the Oscar’s (Hey...it’s a LONG show), and are ready to fulfill our duties once more posting the news everyone talks about, but nobody writes about. Speaking on not writing about it, no cussing dammit... Port Townsend Newspaper, the Leader has added a music download section to their web site (Free promotion for the Warrior or any band, and a great chance to drive them nuts for a while we say), that already features P…

December 28th, 05 - As you can see, we have changed some stuff, and added a lot while trying to keep the site look the same. Whatever huh? We will give you a little tour, but first...The news to use. Promoter = 10 more blood pressure points...Matias promoted his first show at the Boiler Room with PTs Inkreats and the very cool Patterns from Kitsap. No suprize to us that the show drew 2 times more than the 36 and a…

Thanksgiving, 05 - Lots going on, so lets get started with the news that brings it all together. Pho-nominal.... The Phenomenauts/DEK show was all that and more. One of the best Psyco-billy bands in the nation, and just downright fun. Big props to Dan and Mike from DEK for bringing such a rad show to town. Click here for the pictures courstey of Katie. Great gigs coming up. Of course there is the Vendetta Red/Schoolyard Heroes show in PA at the Olympic Skate Park tonight (Sat the 26th) should be…

Nov 14th, 2006 - Another great show at the Hall this Friday, and 2 amazing new shows courtesy of the Upside, and all the scuttle-but you come to expect from us fill this update. Club Waterworld?... Seems like the Surf has a sign on the door saying they will be closed for 6 months after the club decided to move a foot or so away from mother earth. We heard that the venue was to host Style E on Friday, and had asked Dan to possibly book some rock bands in the club. See...venues crumble at just the…

October 31st, 2005 - 3 big shows, and a handful of new ones to cover in this edition of the news that drives your homework schedule wiggy. So grab a coffee, and look at it as “reading practice”. Night one of the Halloween bash started with Minor Imperfection. We didn’t know it, but it seems that this band was one of the bigger ones from Port Angeles a while back, and we just getting back into doing some shows. If…

Oct 23rd, 2005 - Me and Katie are done being mad that we missed the HorrorPops on Thursday, and The Inkreats at The Upside on Saturday (Someone let us know!) and we got 2 new shows to announce. Remember...the only way you can get a 2 day ticket to the Halloween bash is at Quimper Sound for $12. The first new show announcement is this Sunday, October 30th at the Legion Hall, and deserves an explanation of why you should go. There are several artists in town that haven’t played the Legion Hall sho…

Oct 14th, 2005 - Time to announce the full line up for the Halloween Bash #5 at the Legion, but first...the news. If you think the fine bands that either come from here, or pass this way are not making big noise in the real world, you would be as wrong as your mom with Tommy Lee. Witness these far away, yet “close” examples of how far some of our super-hereos have gone. Aiden has a great review on Punk Globe On-line, a…

Oct 1st, 2005 - First off...a HUGE congrats and thank you to The Upside who will be celebrating their 1st Anniversary tonight at the club with Wingman Down, A Void and Indecisive Rhythm. More importantly, let them know that you appreciate their hard work in being the only regular club on the Olympic Peninsula that supports heavy music. To Matt, Marty, Kyle, Wayne and the bands that tear the joint up...THANK YOU. Stay tuned for the Upside Comp, with a sweet selection of local bands coming out soo…
